Is the b-roll genuinely free?
The Pexels stock layer is free at the per-clip level. AI-generated b-roll images via Nano Banana cost $0.06 per image through ViralMint's cloud proxy. A typical 60-second Smart Video uses ~6–8 b-roll clips with a 60/40 stock/AI mix, so total AI b-roll cost is ~$0.12–$0.18 per video. The desktop app itself, the keyword-matching, and the compositing are all free.
Can I use ViralMint just for b-roll without the full Smart Video pipeline?
Not as a standalone tool today — the b-roll generation is part of the Smart Video flow. You can however generate AI images directly via the AI Image Generator tool ($0.06 per image), or download Pexels clips via the desktop app's import flow and use them as standalone assets.
What's the visual quality of AI b-roll images vs frame-by-frame AI video?
Different trade-off. Nano Banana generates a static image per scene which ViralMint then pans/zooms (Ken Burns) for motion. Frame-by-frame AI video models (Sora, Veo, Pika) generate native motion but cost $0.50–$3 per 5-second clip vs $0.06 per Nano Banana image. For faceless TikTok / Shorts at scale, stock + Ken Burns is the right cost-quality balance; for hero brand-marketing pieces, frame-by-frame AI video wins.
